Back to Basics

Sometimes there is nothing as lush as a simple outfit that lets the accessories take centre stage. I live for prints and bright colours but black really is the best colour for a blank canvas.

I'm wearing a Primark top, tights, cuff and shoes, River Island skirt, H&M necklace and the bag was a gift.

I've only just realised that next week it's A-level results day in the UK and I want to wish good luck to all of you who are getting your results on that day! I remember when I was in that position last year-I can honestly say I don't think those butterflies in my tummy have ever been livelier! And yes there were tears.  I can't believe that the year has gone so quickly as I can remember the day vividly even down to the suitcases under my eyes due to a sleepless night. Luckily I did better than I expected but it's important to remember that no matter what you get it's not the end of the world and there are so many options out there. And take it from me re-sits aren't a waste of time, in six months I managed to get one of my grades from a D to an A! So good luck to all and may you get all the success that you wish for.

Are you getting any results next week?

  10. Aw, I totally agree with you--I am smitten by color, but sometimes I just want a black staple piece to decorate with colorful accessories. You did this so well--that necklace is simply gorgeous! I also seriously love that whole black silhouette thing you've got going on--I have always liked skater skirts!

Huh, never heard of A-level tests because I'm from the US, but your advice rings very true. Thanks for sharing your wisdom girl!

  12. Such a cute outfit, and your accessories are adorable. Love the necklace and your nail colour too. The ring looks great with the nail polish. Even though it was YEARS ago, just thinking about me picking up my A-Level results is giving me butterflies, the build up was the worst ever, thankfully I did better than I expected, but still, awful day!!

  23. I just got my results yesterday and despite panicking, I got A's, which I'm super happy about! And I totally agree with you, in school I was someone who got D's and E's but in college now I'm doing really well. :) You've just gotta work at it!

Anyway, I really love how you've made this black outfit look amazing simply with a few bits of jewellery! I think I own too much black stuff, and I'm always at a loss for what to do with it all.. but clearly accessories are the way to go :-) IN LOVE with that necklace too!!

    Have a fab weekend!
