Summer Scents

I am a firm believer that a scent can sum up a season. During winter I love notes of spice and in Autumn I crave subtle, sophisticated fragrances. Now we are in June (say what!) and summertime is upon us, meaning a new fragrance. Last year I bought Escada Sexy Graffiti at the airport on a whim and even now when I spray the perfume I'm filled with memories of lush, tropical beaches and the generous warmth of the Caribbean. And that's why I put a lot thought into my spring/summer fragrance, because for me it's as much about the memories it evokes as it is about the actual smell. Just as a summer soundtrack encompasses nostalgia, for me, a scent reacts in the same way. In other words, Harajuku Lovers will remind me of a secluded, Greek beach just as much as Katy Perry's song 'California Girls' will.

That was last summer though and now we're amongst this summer (although it really doesn't feel like summer with the sight of a downpour outside my window right now). New summer, new summer scent. Enter, well Escada again, but chapter two of my summer fling with Escada.

The brand's limited edition scent Cherry in the Air is a delectable concoction of fruity and sweet notes, perfect for summer and perfect for a summer of  new memories and adventures. Whether it's far flung or a staycation, summer is a time of joy and experience. It's time to meet a new evoker of nostalgia.
So my question to you readers is what fragrance will be the scent of your summer?

  4. Hello lovely, thank you so much for your comment & follow, I really appreciate it :) I loved reading this post, it's so true that certain scents evoke certain memories. It's often that I smell something and it feels like deja vu but I can't put my finger on where I know it from! My Summer scents this year are Daisy by Marc Jacobs and A Scent by Issey Miyake - both were gifts, one for Christmas, and one for being brave having a biopsy. They're both quite light but not too sweet - it's weird because last year all I wanted to wear was Babydoll by YSL, but I tried wearing it the other week and felt overwhelmed by the sweetness. I will definitely have to give the Escada Cherry a smell - I've never tried an Escada perfume xx

  8. I'm very unadventurous when it comes to perfumes; I tend to stick to the same ones, years after years. I love the beach photo!

  18. Ah, I was just thinking about this the other day! How a scent always reminds me of a specific memory! In fact, have you seen the original "The Parent Trap" movie? In the scene where Hayley Mills smells the grandfather's coat and he asks what she's doing and she says "I'm making a memory"... I ALWAYS do the same thing especially with my dog, I smell his ears or his feet because it's a funny little smell and I want to remember it forever. Okay, I'm crazy...haha. But anyway, I am definitely on the hunt for a new scent (the last one I used was Hilary Duff's "With love"- I usually don't like celebrity perfumes but this one was pretty good) so I hope to get a sample of this Escada one. I'm also eying the Juicy Couture Viva La Glam, I believe it's called. :)
